PSYCHIATRIC social worker and former Highworth mayor Alison Durrant has been appointed as the new chairwoman of Swindon Primary Care Trust.
Appointed as a non- executive director of the Trust in April this year, Mrs Durrant, 46, has a background in health and social care and has served as a member of the Swindon and District Comm-unity Health Council.
She is also a Highworth town councillor.
Married with two children, Mrs Durrant, lives in Highworth.
She said: "It is an exciting and challenging time to be involved in the way health care is planned and provided locally."
Mrs Durrant currently works for Oxfordshire County Council as a psychiatric social worker under a mental health project for children and young people.
She has also worked for Wiltshire County Council and Swindon social services departments and has wide range of experience in health and social care both in the community and in hospital settings.
