STAFF and elderly visitors at a day care centre have received a new kitchen, courtesy of volunteers from Zurich Financial Services.
They had only expected the kitchen at the Lorna Doone Day Centre in Wootton Bassett to get a lick of paint.
Organiser Stephanie Bown, of Zurich, said: "We have replaced the kitchen and the floor as well.
"We raised the money ourselves and were there most of the weekend.
"We got discounts on carpet and kitchen equipment from Jewsons and Carpet-Rite, which was a real help."
Zurich employee Gary Henderson was the handyman responsible for fitting the kitchen.
The weekend of hard work was part of Zurich Cares Challenge, where teams of Zurich workers raise funds and then transform parts of Swindon themselves.
Zurich Financial Services has some 2,500 workers in Swindon and this year around 700 of them will get involved in volunteering.
The company has embraced volunteering as part of its community involvement strategy.
