RE: "Performance was enjoyable" from Connie Harman, Evening Advertiser July 24.

Is there a little vendetta going on against Ros Hollands, the EA theatre critic, by some followers of amateur musical productions, because she reviews a show fairly and gives helpful criticism where she thinks it is needed?

What an audacity these people have in suggesting that instead of Ms Hollands reviewing their shows, she should be replaced by other critics, apparently hoping that if this happened they would get glowing reports for every show they see. In that case, why have critics at all?

I thought Ros Hollands gave the Janice Thompson School of Singing a very good write up, her only criticism being that some singers sang with their arms at their sides.

According to Ms Harman this is the correct way to sing and any movement of the hands indicates nerves it is a pity she can't now have a chat with Frank Sinatra about her theory.

Connie also says she has lots of experience in the show business field but she is not an expert. Neither am I, although I did sing with the Syd Lawrence band on one occasion they were on the radio and I was in the bath.
