Being on the Swindon Access Group and profoundly deaf myself, I am appalled by the degrading services provided by both the social services and borough council team.
The social services needs reformation in regard to all disabilities, especially the deaf. Craven House only serves with environmental aids and has no interpretation levels for communication.
Mrs Bullock, who is the equipment officer, has a really big task to serve the whole of the borough single-handed, and her role has brought so much appreciation among the deaf community, yet she has been criticised unnecessarily.
Not surprisingly, there are a number of deaf people who are frustrated, so sometime in the near future there will be a demonstration of protest. Let this be the start, and watch this space.
