POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run accident which left a Chippenham cyclist with head injuries.
Michael Goodell, 38, of Marshfield Road, was cycling down Chippenham High Street early on Friday morning when a silver car, believed to be a Peugeot 106, hit the back of his bike.
He crashed into a bollard and was knocked out. The car did not stop.
Mr Goodell was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department at Bath's Royal United Hospital with a cut head but was later sent home.
Mr Goodell, a keen cyclist, was not wearing his cycle helmet he had it strapped to his bike at the time of the accident.
"I had just taken it off and I was just wearing my headband," he said. "I kept thinking I should stop and put it back on but I didn't."
CCTV footage showed the accident but the car's registration number was obscured. Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Hayley Tarling on (01249) 654455.
