VETERINARY graduate Mike John, who joined Malmesbury vets, The George Veterinary Group, two weeks ago, is no stranger to farm animals.
Mr John, 23, who graduated in veterinary science from Bristol University, was brought up on a dairy farm in Pembrokeshire.
He said: "I come from a farm and I was always interested in veterinary medicine, but I was about 13 before I made the decision to become a vet."
Mr John said he has enjoyed his first two weeks at the Malmesbury practice.
"It is very fulfiling to be able to get outside, meet farmers and work with the animals," he said.
Although Mr John has no pets or animals of his own, he will now be working with a wide range of animals within a ten-mile radius.
He is has moved into a house in Holloway, Malmesbury, with his girlfriend Charlie Hughes, 25, who works as a doctor in Bath.
