IN this troubled world of today it isn't often you can give a thank you to anybody.
In April of this year I had a pacemaker put in and on July 2 my lovely wife died.
On Friday, July 26, I decided to take a walk to the Homebase store in Greenbridge, which was closing down, to buy some rose bushes.
Unfortunately they were all out and I bought a rose book, or at least I put it on the till desk, as there was a couple in front of me.
I then said to the assistant I would have to sit down as I was feeling unwell, as at 80 I think I overdid the walking in such heat.
However the Homebase assistant helped me but it was the lady of the couple who helped me more and insisted on taking me home.
This couple were retired themselves and lived over Haydon Wick but brought me back home to the bottom of Meadowcroft and saw me to my door.
I do know their names were Alice and Eric and had a grandson with them.
So I would say to you both Alice and Eric a big thank you.
