A TRAIN made an unscheduled stop in Westbury on Sunday, July 4, when a passenger with a serious stomach injury was airlifted to hospital.
Doctors examined the man at 1pm and he was flown to the Royal United Hospital, Bath.
The First Great Western train was travelling from Paddington to Penzance when staff spotted him and phoned for an ambulance.
A spokesman for First Great Western said: "The train manager contacted our control room and we had to make an unscheduled stop in Westbury.
"The train was delayed and left the station at 1.40pm. There was also a knock-on effect on two other services.
"There was a debrief at Exeter after the incident, and counselling will be given to the train manager if it's appropriate."
