HIGH-PROFILE police stakeouts of a Westbury graveyard plagued by a drink and underage sex gang are proving to be a success.
Police have spoken to several teenagers using the All Saints churchyard in Market Place to try and force them to curb their outrageous behaviour.
Elderly residents, including a man in his 90s, have become virtual prisoners as teenagers take part in sex acts yards from their homes.
Drugs and drink are regularly consumed in the churchyard and a porch is often grimly transformed into a makeshift toilet.
Police have moved on youths on several occasions in the last week and have spoken to members of the gang, telling them to quit their antics or face arrest.
Town councillors, shocked by the incidents, are uniting against the problem and have visited the site to come up with solutions.
Sgt Jim Stannard said: "We are continuing to monitor the graveyard and I have spoken with some youths about the situation.
"Any sign of anti-social behaviour will be noted and we will make arrests if necessary."
