What a sad loss to the family, the community of Westbury and indeed to all of us, is the death of John Annetts.
He was well-loved and enthusiastic and gave his support to so many groups and individuals, both large and small.
The shock felt by all of us is in no small measure an indication of how much he was loved by so many. Even now it's hard to believe that cheerful character who was always ready with a joke and a smile is no longer with us.
Whether it was at Castle Combe racing circuit or collecting for Children in Need, John always gave 100 per cent and was always keen to support people and promote their causes.
He was a great support to me through all the time I've been a journalist both here and while I worked at the Wiltshire Times and in all my 10 years in the media.
It was always a pleasure to deal with him and it is no exaggeration to say he will be very much missed by all those of us in the media who worked with him. His ready wit and sense of fun often made interviews a real giggle and yet when he had something serious to say he said it and said it with real sincerity and honesty.
John Annetts was a great character and the community will be the poorer for his loss. He was irrepressible and irreplaceable and we all I'm sure, are thinking of his family at this very sad time.
