Dave Bakewell made a nostalgic return from Canada to meet up with the driver he helped achieve four national race titles..
He left the UK for Canada more than 25 years ago but on Wednesday, July 31, turned the clock back to the 70s for a reunion with driver and close friend Roger Brunt.
Mr Bakewell built the steel frame fibre glass mini powered by a 1000cc tuned engine that took Roger Brunt to four national championship wins.
Mr Brunt, who now runs a driving school and took Formula 1 star Jenson Button through his driving test, praised his friend for his skills in car construction.
Dave Bakewell, who turned his skills to house refurbishment in Ontario, was amazed at how Trowbridge has changed over a quarter of a century. He said: "Bradford on Avon and Westbury haven't changed that much but I hardly recognised Trowbridge. At first I had a job to find my way around."
