THE prostitutes that work in Swindon do not live here, maybe they are on drugs and need a quick buck to support their habits.
But what gives them the right to travel to the centre and work our streets, bringing all their associated problems with them?
If I wanted to set up a hotdog van and work on the streets, I would need a permit. If it was refused then the council would enforce the decision, probably to the delight of residents.
There seems to be a softly softly approach and everybody is meant to feel sorry for them, give them huge breaks and pretend the problems are not there.
How many of the people from Druglink, Swindon council and any other interested party actually live in the central area? They are all quick with sympathy for local residents but offer nothing but lip service and no real solutions.
I do hope I'm wrong, but by past experience and a lack of success so far achieved, I don't think extra money will help.
