Don Rogers has turned down the chance to become manager of Devizes Town as predicted in yesterday's Evening Advertiser.
The Swindon Town legend will remain with Hellenic League Pewsey Vale after deciding against a switch to Nursteed Road.
Rogers informed the Devizes board of his decision yesterday afternoon, after telling the Adver that moving would be a step in the wrong direction.
Officials at the Screwfix League club will now switch their attentions to an as yet unnamed manager who contacted them to stake a claim for the post recently vacated by Brian Newlands.
Chairman Chris Belcher will hold talks with the mystery man this lunchtime.
If everything goes to plan, the new boss could be installed in time for this afternoon's pre-season trip to Highworth.
