POLICE netted north Wiltshire's largest seizure of cannabis plants after a beat bobby sniffed out a drugs factory.
PC Steve Dixon and Sgt Nic Shorten first got a scent of the 214 cannabis plants worth £33,000 as they walked down an alley near The Pippin in Calne.
The smell grew stronger as they walked past the houses either side of the alley and when they reached a warehouse at the end of the lane.
But they were unable to pinpoint the source until PC Dixon discovered an extractor fan vent at the back of the warehouse, where they could smell cannabis fumes.
The discovery was made two weeks ago. Officers kept the warehouse under surveillance, then obtained a search warrant and raided the building.
Police now want to speak to a man who is believed to have been leasing the warehouse for three months in his mother-in-law's name.
