STUDENTS from Wiltshire have been given the opportunity to work with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Students participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award will be trained to communicate water safety messages to holidaymakers at Sandbanks beach in Poole.
Students will also find out about various aspects of the RNLI's work on a visit to Poole lifeboat station.
Duke of Edinburgh co-ordinator for Wiltshire, Ian Duckett, said he was delighted students from the county would be participating in the initiative.
"It is exactly the type of opportunity that meets the criteria for our students to achieve their Gold Award."
It is also hoped the scheme will encourage students to make a long-term commitment to voluntary work for the RNLI.
