I would like to comment on some of the letters regarding traffic problems to RIAT at Fairford this year.
With an expected 200,000 visitors to the show, it should have been obvious to everybody that hold-ups were going to happen.
However, my wife and I have attended the last three shows held at Fairford, and have experienced hardly any delay by taking advantage of the shuttle bus from Swindon bus station.
On Saturday, July 21, we left our home at 10.15am and drove to the bus station, leaving our car in the adjacent multi-storey car park.
We boarded our double-decker bus at 10.40, which took a special route via back roads to Fairford.
Although we were delayed for a few minutes at Groundwell, due to road works, and even with the security checks in operation, we were inside the showground by 11.30am an overall journey time from our home of just 75 minutes.
Six hours later we made the same trip in reverse in even less time.
I am aware that many motorists would not even consider using public transport, but on this occasion, it proved to be far superior with full marks again to Thamesdown Transport for a stress-free journey.
