HEAVY rain caused the River Thames at Hannington to rise 18 inches during the Haydon St AS Jack Cave Memorial.

This affected sport drastically and Mark Jones only needed 8-5-0 of chub, roach, dace and perch taken on stick-floated caster to easily win.

Second was tackle shop manager Mick Cottle with 5-2-0 and Alan Hambridge needed only 4-4-0 for third.

RAIN made fishing uncomfortable in the Veterans' Wednesday match at Bourton-on-the-Water but weights were again very good. 1st, Mick Robins with 94lb (carp); 2nd, Ricky Spiteri 92lb; 3rd, Pete Sole 87 1/2 lb.

Weights were close in the BCA match at Lemington lakes. Fishing the Sunshine Lake, Tony Hubbard topped the catches with 6-8-0 of skimmers and tench, he was closely followed by Lou Soane 6-2-0 and third was Mel Mullen with 6lb of tench and crucians.

Cloverleaf AC visited Shearwater last Saturday and weights were again close, Ricky Spiteri getting the verdict with 42-2-0 ahead of Pete Saunders 36-8-0 and Andy Bright 35-8-0.

The Three Counties Junior 6-a-side at Peatmoor was won by Liden with 23 points. Runners up with 15 points were Newbury Yellow and Peatmoor, In fourth place with five points were Newbury Green. Top weight went to Mark Kimber of Peatmoor with 13lb 12oz. Runner up with 9lb 12oz was Glen Picton of Liden and third place with 8lb 13oz was Daniel Franklin of Liden, fourth with 6lb 8.5oz was Gareth Jackson of Peatmoor.
