SAM PARKIN is happy to sacrifice his place in the Wycombe Wanderers hall of fame if it means shooting Town into round two of the Worthington Cup.
The 21-year-old is looking to rediscover his scoring touch and nothing would please him more than to dump his old club out of the competition.
Parkin was part of the Buckinghamshire side's squad that defied the odds to reach the FA Cup semi-final in 2001.
Lawrie Sanchez recruited the young Parkin on loan from Chelsea to boost his attack and it coincided with a remarkable cup run that captured the imagination of the football world.
Wycombe entertained Wolves in the fourth round of the FA Cup that year with most pundits predicting an away victory.
With five minutes remaining, the teams were level at 1-1.
Up popped Parkin with the winner and Wycombe marched on to beat Wimbledon in the fifth round.
Although Parkin had returned to Chelsea by the time Wycombe eventually bowed out against Liverpool, he has never forgotten his spell at Adams Park.
He said: "The FA Cup run was something special and I enjoyed my taste of first team football there.
"But I am a Swindon Town player now and I will be doing all I can to make sure we are the ones who make it through to the second round.
"League points are the most important thing but everyone loves a cup run and I'm sure the club wouldn't complain about the extra income.
"There is also the chance of a big draw in the next round."
Tonight's game is important in trying to halt the club's alarming slump. Parkin said: "It's still hard to believe we have lost our last four matches and the boys are desperate to put things right.
"You don't get points for a cup win but we are all determined to get back into the winning habit.
"From my point of view, I'm disappointed that I haven't scored in the last few matches.
"Chances came and went against both Stockport and Port Vale but the important thing is that we carry on creating them.
"I am still positive and hopefully it won't be long before the goals start to go in again."
Reduced ticket prices are in operation for tonight's game.
Prices are as follows: £15 and £5 (Adults and concessions watching from the Arkells or Nationwide stands), £10 and £5 (adults and concessions watching from the Town End). Season ticket holders can watch the Wycombe clash for £5.
