KARTING. Ross Curnow finished third in a close and exciting fifth round race at Sunday's British Junior Kart Championship meeting in Lincolnshire. The youngster qualified in pole position for the Junior Rotax Max Class (A) after three succesful heats. With one race in the championship to go, Curnow is fourth in the table. Kent's Buck-more Park is the venue for the final round on October 5.
HOCKEY. Ben Croxall scored a hat-trick and Andy Grand-field grabbed a brace as Salisbury's men's first team continued their winning streak in the build-up to the new season by beating West Wilts 5-2. Salisbury's ladies team were also in winning mood. They beat Sturminster Newton 4-2 with goals from Kimberley Wood (2), Linda Scarce and Caren Copley. The club's mini/junior hockey section, open to boys and girls aged up to 19, meets on Sunday mornings from 9.30am-11am at its Skew Bridge base.
TENNIS. Wilton Tennis Club's annual finals day proved a real family affair for the Borchert members. Chelsea reached the under 13s girls final, while Daniel was runner up in the boy's final. Sandie was also a runner up in the ladies final.
