SWINDON SUNDAY LEAGUE: THE first round of the Knockout Cup served up a few shocks and some close shaves for some Division One clubs.
New club Blueprint beat Motorola from Division Four by 5-4 with goals from Jeff Chilton (2), Nick Scraggs, Stuart Parsons and Simon Offley.
A hat-trick from Wayne Palmer and one from James Whitmore provided Sun Inn Coate with a 4-1 victory at Thamesdown Nalgo, for whom Andy Curtis scored.
Another upset was Red Lion's 5-0 victory at Division Two side Highworth Plough. Phillip Andrews Estate Agents from Division Six, who upset Nationwide from Division Three, going through on penalties after drawing 0-0 at the end of extra time.
New club MCS put up a superb show against Rodbourne Cheney from Division One, drawing 4-4 after extra-time before losing out on penalties. MCS scorers were Tony Brown (2), Carl Porter and Gary Read. Richard Merchant (2),Wayne Arnold and Paul Blackford hit the net for Cheney.
Highest scores of the day were Jesters, who hammered Iceland United 13-0, with four goals for Mark Croydon and a hat-trick each for Neil Edwards and Jason Heron plus goals for Cram (2) and Neil Thomas.
Innogy Holdings from Division Two put 11 past Swindon Cerney, with Paul Distill bagging four, Chris Sharp and Rob Woods a hat trick each and one from Keith Norman.
Another team on form were County Ground Hotel who walloped Deers Leap 9-1, with two goals each for Pat and Danny Slattery, Colin Baker and Paul Corcoran ,and a single strike for Craig Miller.
Penetrators from Division Six were holding the Bear Hotel from Division Five through a Rob Richings goal, but lost their way in extra time and eventually lost 5-1.
In the all-Division Onne clash Coleshill went down 5-3 at home to New Century WMC. The home side's scorers were Adam Bradley, Martin Bungay and Michael O'Sullivan.
Another top division team, Carriers Arms, had a 7-0 home victory against Campbell James with Mark Peters (2), Ian Scott- Brown, James Igoe, Alex Green, Matt Jack and Daryl Mason netting.Fox and Hounds won 5-2 at Castrol GTX Magnatec thanks to a hat trick from Danny Bourne and two from Lee Ashby.
Two goals from Steve Stewart were helping G & F Bricklaying to hold Tran Staff to 2-2, but the Division 1 side were eventually grateful to Neil Bridges (3), Kevin Theobald, Adam Giles and Harry Sandhu for their 6-2 win.
Jovial Monk hit Halcrow for an 8-2 victory with Paul Byrne, Justin Webster, Lee Howell, Kevin Meader, John Goodenough, Wayne Southern (2) and Kim Norris on target.
Autocolour from Division Four eased past Grosvenor 5-0, with Steve Mathews (3), Russell Osman and Mark Hacker scoring.
In the all-Division Three clash Wanborough defeated High St Club 4-1 with a double from Michael Kent and one each from Mark Brimson and Shaun Noakes.
Holders Greyhound had a 6-0 home victory against Dynamo Ashton. Nathan Holt (4) and singles for Tony Joyce and Paul Hunt did the job.
Alanbrooke struggled to a 2-1 win over Faringdon Rd Grapes thanks to Lee Thomas and Martin Dunn, with Wayne Ranns replying for the Grapes.
Goals from Leel Iddenden, Sam Dixon, Andy Mcleish and two from David Hickin helped Penhill United to a 5-0 win at Fairford Sunday. The Lanb went down 6-1 at Moonrakers, for whom Paul Parsons bagged a hat trick.
Haydon Wick WMC beat Nationwide Life 4-2. Aaron Stacey with a hat-trick and Steve Cole hit the target for the Wick. Strikes from Craig Watson and Mike Warlow could not prevent AFC Southside losing at home 4-2 to Windmill. Gary Seward, Ross Kelly, Mike Phelps and Chris Henly scored for Windmill.
Kingsdown Utd won 3-0 at home to Duckhams Q thanks to Simon English, Dave Gibbons and Lee Wrath.
A Reg Prentice goal was not enough for Mallard in their home 5-1 home defeat against Juventus. Goals from Tom and Tony Sardo and Andy Bell could not stop Wincanton going down to a 7-3 home defeat against Suffolk Arms.
Terry Griffin knocked a consolation goal on for new club WS One against Division One team Wroughton WMC who won 5-1.
Southbrook Inn from Division Four could not upset Compton Welding from the division above them and went down 3-1.
