MID-WILTSHIRE SUNDAY LEAGUE: DEVIZES Snooker Club romped to an emphatic 11-0 victory over Trowbridge Wanderers in their first game of the season.
Ashton Turner opened the scoring after 11 minutes after picking up a through ball, outpacing the defence, and slotting home in the bottom right corner.
John Schofield made it 2-0 nine minutes later with a 40 yard free kick that bobbled under the goalkeeper's hands. Two more goals before the interval gave the Snooker Club a 4-0 half time lead.
The second half saw the Snooker Club net another seven goals. Their scorers were C Townsend (4), L Sartin (3), J Schofield, S Sartin, A Turner and an own goal.
Selectabook had a comfortable 6-1 win against a more than useful Dolphin side. Yet again the success of the Bookmen was built on the skill of defender Gaiger and Lemon, who were both outstanding.
The Bookmen opened the scoring through Stuart Skinner who quickly added a second before Marcus Wallen made it 3-0 with an exquisite lob. The second half was a formality for the Bookmen with Nick Taylor scoring two easy tap-ins before The Dolphin pulled one back when Julian Fielding cracked home a fine shot.
Marcus Wallen finished off the scoring for the Bookmen with his second goal.
Netheravon travelled to the Kings Arms for their first game of the season and were 1-0 up after just 12 seconds when Freddy Kenny slotted home from an acute angle after a three-man move. Their lead was short lived as the Kings Arms replied immediately with a 35-yard lob from Jamie Gould.
The Kings Arms then raced into the lead with a 3-1 half-time lead when Simon Weston found the back of the net with a 20 yard shot and Booker Woodford beat a defender to slot home.
Brad Rawlings made it 4-1 to the Kings Arms early in the second half when his shot from a tight angle was fumbled by the Netheravon keeper and went through his legs. Kenny pulled one back for the visitors with a solo effort before Rawlings made it 5-2 after taking on three defenders and finishing with style.
Dave Skinner pulled it back to 5-3 when he tapped in after a goalmouth scramble before the final whistle.
