YOUTH FOOTBALL: THE Wiltshire Times and News Series Mid Wilts Youth and Minor League got off to a great start with goals galore.

On an afternoon of big winning margins, one of the biggest was at Marlborough, where the home side finished 14-0 winners against Lavington Bandits. Five goals in the first half were followed by nine in the second, with seven of the team on the score-sheet.

Strikers Zahir Bhatia and Josh Forster each netted four times and other goals came from Will Bryant (2), Ben Crame, Chris Deane, Joe Hines and Stuart Cody.

Lavington manager Steve Traveller said that despite the score line the boys were not downhearted after the game. The boys realise that it will take a while for them to settle as a team as the team was recently formed and none of them play for their schools.

Devizes Town Youth were on fire in their first game, running out 7-0 against visitors Pewsey Vale.

Ashley Edwards scored four times in the first half and increased his goal tally to five in the second period. Barney Reid and Charlie Moss were also on target.

Marvin Brown (2) and Lewis Crane (2) scored for Amesbury Juniors in their home game against FC Chippenham which ended 4-2. Andy Bull scored both goals for Chippenham.

Under 15s Blue Division

NEWCOMERS Laverstock and Ford found themselves on the wrong end of a 12-0 score line against Shaw Swindon in their first match in this league.

Laverstock were on the back foot from the start having only ten men due to injuries.

Chippenham Town Rangers also tasted success with a 4-0 win against Shaw and Whitley. Ben Thomas (2), Frazer Shaw-Morris and Anthony Gamble scored for Chippenham.

Under 16s Blue Division

AFC CORSHAM took the lead in their home game against Amesbury Juniors and went on to give a good all-round team performance to finish 8-1 winners. Chris Andrews, Leon Worsely, James Ford, Warren Jones and Scott Lye (3) scored.

Stratton Juniors went 1-0 up but home side Chippenham Town Rangers were soon back level with a clinically executed penalty from Aaron Pearce. Stratton were the stronger of the two on the day regaining the lead and increasing it to 4-1 before the home side scored through Martin Mackie late on to leave the final score at 4-2.

FC Chippenham got their campaign off to a great start with a resounding 6-0 away win against Shaw and Whitley. Kris Beasley, Philip Baker, Jamie Lyons (2) and Yan Klukowski (2) scored for Chippenham.

Under 16s Red Division

DEVIZES Town Youth totally dominated the first half in their away game against newcomers Box Youth and led 8-1 at half-time.

Box could have collapsed in the second half but they showed great spirit and saw their defence breached only more three times to leave the final score at 11-1.

Daniel Kingsbury, Lee Himsworth (3), Robert Mitchell (3), Ashley Rake (2), Jason Lucas and Joe Bennett scored for Devizes, with Scott Flemming replying for Box.

Malmesbury Youth took a 5-1 lead at the break in their away game against new boys Barford Hornets.

Malmesbury remained the stronger of the two throughout going on to finish 9-1 winners. Steven Coombes scored for Barford.

Under 14s Red Division

CALNE Town Youth played host to Warminster Hornets in the closest game of the day. Calne did everything but score in the first half, hitting the upright and the crossbar on several occasions but neither team found the back of the net.

Early in the second half Tom Fox broke the deadlock giving Hornets the lead and the points with a final score of 1-0 to the visitors.

Bradford on Avon made a slow start in their game, going 1-0 down to AFC Corsham United, but they rallied and finished 6-1 winners at the final whistle. Bradford's goals came from Nick Medin (2), Ian Campbell and a hat-trick from David Blagbrough.

Referee Michael Spurrier, from Corsham, had a superb game in the match between home side FC Chippenham and Marlborough Town which finished 6-2. Ryan Miller (2), Bret Foster (2) and Tim Kershaw (2) scored for Chippenham.

The Warminster Highbury side held a very strong Chippenham Town Rangers in the first half, with the visitors taking just a 2-0 lead at the break. The strength and pace of the Chippenham side overwhelmed Warminster in the second half which saw the visitors finish 10-0 winners.

Chippenham Town's goals came from Jack Coalhupe, Ashley Tarrant (2), Sam Jones (2), Steven Jenkins (2) and a second half hat-trick from Ben Butterfield.

Under 14s Blue Division

THE game between Chippenham Town Youth and visitors Trowbridge Town Youth could have gone either way but ten minutes from time Nathan Phillimore scored the winner to give Chippenham the three points.

Under 10s Division

TROWBRIDGE Town Youth Reds were anticipating a tough opener after two tight games with visitors Castle Combe last season.

However, the visitors were weakened through absentees and the game started with all out attack from the Reds.

Mitchell Spackman was the driving force in midfield, supplying Otis Young and Daniel Price with early chances. The Castle Combe keeper was man of the match with a string of fine saves which kept the score respectful.

Daniel Price hit two and Otis Young one to leave the final score at 3-1 to the home side. New boys Jordan-Lee Gullis and Jordan Da Silva settled down well with strong second half performances. Man-of-the match for The Reds was Sam Worsfold.

Under 13s Blue Division

CHIPPENHAM Town Youth kept a clean sheet in their game against visitors Calne Town Youth and ran out 5-0 winners. Chippenham's goals came from C Fischer, T Needham, J White (2) and H King.

Under 12s Blue Division

CHIPPENHAM Town Youth ran out 3-1 winners away to Melksham Park, with L Guiding scoring for Melksham.

Goals from S Crawley, J Summers, C Donovan and an own goal saw visitors Castle Combe Colts take all three points with a 4-1 score line in their game against Bradford on Avon.

Under 12s Red Division

CHIPPENHAM 2nds had B Pantry to thank for their goal, but they were outgunned on the day by visitors Westbury Youth who won 6-1.

Under 11s Division One

THOMAS Taylor, Aaron Tinson, Ben Copeland and William Giles scored for FC Chippenham Youth in their 4-0 away win against Westbury Youth.

Under 11s Division Two

TROWBRIDGE Town Youth stormed to victory in their first game of the season with a 8-0 home win against Chippenham Town Youth.
