AUTHOR Don Lucey spoke to the Evening Advertiser from Ground Zero as yesterday's memorial ceremonies took place.
He said: "The mood is very sombre, people are still in shock.
"People are determined to make sure that this sort of thing doesn't happen again.
"Everyone's behind President Bush and in favour of wiping out Saddam Hussein.
"People are also very nervous here every time a plane goes overhead it gives me a bit of a shiver as well."
While Mr Lucey, 49, was talking on his mobile phone he said he saw a young woman walk past breaking down in tears being supported by two friends.
He said: "It's so eerie at the moment. I feel as if everybody wants to burst into tears."
