PLANS to build a small housing estate in Rodbourne Cheney have been put on hold by Swindon Council.
The plot of land in The Broadway has already been cleared after planning was approved in April.
But a new application had to be submitted when it was found the site layout was too small for the plans.
Members of the council's planning committee put off making a decision about the application until a further site visit.
Hannick Homes wants to build 19 houses on the site but residents fear the development would pose major road safety problems.
David Stephens, who lives in The Broadway, said: "I am glad the council will be taking a look at the site but I am not sure how much good it will do.
"There is already half a street and half a house built on the land. It has gone way too far without the council's permission. We feel it is being rail-roaded through."
Mr Stephens also objected to the construction of a T-junction on the crest of a nearby hill, claiming it was a dangerous for motorists.
