CHIPPENHAM 3rds triumphed on their Bath Combination Merit Table debut against an under-strength Corsham 2nds side.
After an error-strewn opening to the match, Dave Burrows' powerful run saw him go over to open the scoring for the hosts. Jack Oliver duly converted to give Chippenham a seven-point lead.
Corsham hit back with a try of their own but Chippenham tightened their grip on the game with tries from Ian Bannister and James Cook.
Burrows completed a hat-trick of tries in the second period, while Oliver completed the scoring with a try of his own and a drop goal late on.
Chippenham 3rds travel to Old Sulians on Saturday 14 September.
