JOHNNIE JACKSON is eager to seize the Town spotlight with a glittering display on the London stage tomorrow.
The 20-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is poised to make his debut at Queens Park Rangers in a real 'home and away' drama.
Although he will be playing for the visiting side, the presence of family and friends at Loftus Road will make him feel right right at home - and all in the city of his birth.
But Jackson is just glad that he can call himself a Swindon Town player, at least for three months, after the frustration of a three-match ban.
He said: "It has been very stop-start. I had trained with the Swindon lads before the Port Vale game only to discover I was suspended.
"Since then, it's been a case of Swindon one day and London the next.
"I trained with Swindon on Monday and Tuesday this week but went back to Spurs on Wednesday for a work-out because the cup tie against Wycombe meant there was no training here that day."
Jackson admits it is important to feel settled and be part of the Town camp.
He said: "It has been a bit difficult but now I can really concentrate on Swindon Town rather than Spurs for a while."
Jackson's lack of match practice, having played just one reserve game for Spurs this season, could be a problem.
He said: "Swindon have been playing two games a week but I have been working very hard to build up my fitness levels.
"But there is nothing like playing games."
And the former England under 20 captain would love to be handed a start at Loftus Road.
He joined his new team mates at the club's Wanborough training ground this morning to try and stake his claim for selection.
He said: "QPR is quite a big stage to make your Second Division debut on.
"If the gaffer does play me, it will be great to play in London. It makes it easy for family and friends to come along and support me."
After Wednesday night's Worthington Cup exit Town boss Andy King said it would be a tough baptism for Jackson to come into a side on a five match losing streak.
But the left-sided Camden-born midfielder is not worried by that depressing statistic.
He said: "I see it as a good challenge. Hopefully we will get the result we need."
Town have 600 tickets remaining for the trip to Cheltenham on Tuesday. This is an all-ticket fixture.
Prices are as follows: £15, £12 and £7 (seats) and £13, £9 and £5 (terracing). Further details from the Town ticket office on 01793 333777.
