SALES of the Wiltshire Times & Chippenham News have risen yet again. Figures released by the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) for January-June 2002 show a 1.7 per cent increase compared with 2001.
Average sales of the two titles now stand at 19,722 a week which is an increase of 332 copies a week.
Editor Toby Granville said: "This is tremendous news as while many newspaper sales are dropping ours continues to rise.
"It is a wonderful reward for all the hard work and commitment shown by all our dedicated staff.
"We aim for strong news stories and features every week to give our readers the best possible read."
Earlier this year, the Wiltshire Times was named Newsquest's weekly newspaper of the year and was a finalist in British Telecom's Weekly Newspaper 2002 competition.
In the past six months, our readers have enjoyed exclusives such as the story about the Studley Green estate which is being terrorised by gangs of youths.
We have also reported stories of courage, including one about Charlotte Wakeham, a seven-year-old Trowbridge schoolgirl diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour and helped launch a fund which raised thousands of pounds from readers.
Mr Granville added: "The Wiltshire Times and Chippenham News are an important part of the community and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our readers and advertisers for helping us continue our success story."
