I would be grateful if I can take this opportunity to extend my thanks to all those who participated in last weekend's carnival. It was a wonderful event and I would especially like to thank those who lined the route and gave so enthusiastically to benefit local charities.
Later that evening I was privileged to be able to join the night shift of our local constabulary. Patrolling until 5am I gained a valuable insight into our county town. Although I cannot claim the evening was incident free, I can testify to having witnessed dedicated, conscientious officers who remained sensitive and vigilant under trying conditions. It was a great pleasure to patrol with them and they remain a credit to our town.
Andrew Bryant,
Mayor of Trowbridge.
I was brought up in Trowbridge and visited it again last weekend for the carnival.
A big hip hooray for the organisers and participants for a fabulous display, well organised and full of interesting and beautiful themed floats, cold but well drilled little majorettes and well stewarded.
But, a big boo to the crowds, who were sullen, quiet and did not clap or cheer any of the floats or participants (not even the little people).
It is meant to be a festival of fun and joy!
Wake up Trowbridge people and show your pleasure and gratitude, otherwise people will not want to come to the town to bring you a wonderful carnival.
