CHARLOTTE Wakeham has said a big thank you to all the Wiltshire Times readers who helped send her on a dream holiday to Disney World.
The seven-year-old, from Trowbridge, has a terminal brain tumour and has been given just months to live.
She said: "Thank you all the nice people who gave me money and sent me money to go to America.
"I had a good time, I met Minnie and Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy and we went to Epcot three times."
Charlotte's grandmother, Wendy Bryant, went with the family on the holiday.
She said: "Charlotte had a great time. She was running and swimming, which was wonderful to see. It has left us with a lot of good memories." Charlotte completed a course of radiotherapy before she went abroad and is taking chloripramine, an anti-depressant drug that has been shown to slow the growth of some tumours.
Doctors said on Wednesday that Charlotte is doing so well that she might be able to return to school for a couple of days a week.
Ms Bryant added: "The doctor was amazed at how much she had improved.
"She ran rings around us, she has so much energy. It was great to just watch her."
Ms Bryant launched Charlotte's Chance of Life fund to raise money for her granddaughter and other terminally ill children.
Donations have been flooding in and many readers have responded by organising events for the charity, bringing the total raised so far to £21,000. Trowbridge Lions club paid the travel costs for the family to get to and from the airport and Virgin Airlines paid for them to travel first class.
The family want to continue raising money, whatever the outcome for Charlotte, in order to help other children.
The fund has already helped Swindon four-year-old Charlie Jarvis, who has cancer and plans are being made to help with respite care for an 18-month-old boy from the Isle of Man who suffers from a rare brain disease.
A donation is also planned to help send another child, also from the Isle of Man, to Orlando, Florida to fulfill her dream of swimming with dolphins.
Ms Bryant said: "That's what we are here for, what we are raising money for. This is not Charlotte's charity, it is a charity in her name."
Donations can be made through the Wiltshire Times offices, 15 Duke St, Trowbridge
