SURELY Les Horn, chairman of Broad Street Community Council, and the residents did not really expect a police spokesperson to turn up to their meeting.

Let's be honest, would the police have been able to give them any answers?

As one resident said: "The police are not doing anything about it, we rarely see them around here and it's as if they don't care." Do they? They have yet to prove it.

I am sure a refresher stint on the beat would open their eyes. They might then get a true feeling of public opinion on prostitution and car offences, both classed as low priority due to lack of resources.

Offenders know this. They know the chances of any action being taken are nil, even when reported by those who pay the salaries of these upholders of the law.

So why bother to report anything in the future?
