SWINDON police have once again warned residents against the threat of bogus callers after a group of men called at an elderly woman's house in Springfield Road, Old Town, offering a free damp-proof course survey.
The men claimed they worked for Mosaic Improvements. The woman refused their offer and the men left.
Inquiries by Swindon police and Trading Standards have revealed that the company does not exist.
Swindon police spokeswoman Alvina Kumar said: "Residents should always ensure that company and caller details are verified as to their authenticity before entering into any agreement for work.
"Genuine callers will not object to their details being checked and will not mind waiting or returning."
