THE Goddard Arms Hotel will again be hosting the post-nuptial celebrations for the Evening Advertiser Bride of the Year.

The historic Old Town hotel is named after the family who were once squires of Old Swindon.

The building was used by the town magistrates, who held sessions there more than two hundred years ago.

Next year, the venue will be the setting for a reception for 50 guests and an evening reception for 75. Our Bride of the Year and her new husband will also stay there for the night.

The package, costing £3,500, will be tailored to the wishes of the lucky bride and groom to make sure they have the perfect day.

Steve Goulding, wedding co-ordinator at the Goddard Arms Hotel, said the hotel was a popular choice for Swindon couples.

"It's the oldest hotel in Swindon and the Goddard ballroom is a special place for a reception a golden room like a fairytale setting.

"What bride wouldn't want that?

"The bride will be treated excellently, as we treat all our brides. We provide friendly service right from the planning stages to the day after the wedding."

For the 12th year running, women in Swindon have a chance to marry the man of their dreams in a wedding that will hardly cost them a penny. Everything from the gown to the wedding invitations for this year's Bride of the Year competition have been provided by local businesses.

With the venue sorted, the search is on for the fiance who has what it takes to win a dream wedding worth £8,000.

Steve said they are seeking applications from a wide range of brides-to-be not necessarily from women marrying for the first time. "Obviously we are looking for a couple very much in love who enjoy life to the full.

"We are looking for something original, not necessarily a bride who has model looks."
