THE oldest multicultural group in Swindon welcomed guests from all walks of life at a gathering offering the chance to sample Pakistani culture.
South Swindon MP Julia Drown was among those invited to Broadgreen Community Centre by the Pakistani Welfare Association.
Deputy mayor Derek Benfield also attended.
The association wants to promote awareness of its work, which involves offering help and cultural support throughout the borough.
Yesterday's visitors heard a presentation by association general secretary Mohammed Salas Khan.
He said: "We were very pleased to welcome so many people from throughout the borough's council, local community and other statutory and voluntary groups.
"Swindon's Pakistani Welfare Association was established in 1964, and is committed to bringing the community together with events, in helping people with services such as interpreting and drawing out older or disabled Muslim people who may have previously felt isolated in their homes."
