IN company with many people in our community, in particular the frequent visitors to Barbury Castle, my deep concern for the plight of the Simpson family does not diminish.

From the number of people to whom I have spoken and the many people I have encountered at Barbury Castle, it has become increasingly clear to me that there are far more questions than answers to this unhappy situation which the council is to wrap up and dismiss in haste.

The following questions arise:

n Has anyone an interest in acquiring the farmland? If so, have they refrained from attending council meetings at which the situation at Barbury Castle has been discussed?

n Why would anyone want to get rid of the Simpsons?

n Have the Simpsons been kept fully informed about their situation and the pending loss of their home and their livelihood?

n Has anyone from the council thought about the stress and the daily insecurity that has been wrought upon the Simpson family during the past two years?

n Has the strong support for the Simpsons been considered?
