STEVE COPPELL was rumoured to be spending this morning brushing the dust off his magic wand.
The club's new assistant boss kept his thoughts to himself following Town's embarrassing 2-0 defeat at Cheltenham last night, but if it is a challenge he wants, then he has come to the right place.
Town boss Andy King is hoping that Coppell can breathe new life into his 'nervous wrecks', but those crying for the manager's head will not get their way without a fight.
King said: "The day I walk away is when I feel I've lost my players.
"If they publicly say the manager is an idiot and I don't want to play for him, then you won't have to wait for me to leave. I would be weak if I walked away from the battle and didn't fight it with them."
As for Coppell's involvement, King said: "The questions are whether Steve and I get time to work together and secondly, would Steve want to come back after tonight?
"But he believes in a lot of things I do, and we will now build for Saturday.
Despite his determination to fight on, King admits life is proving tough. He said: "This is my lowest point."
