Work on a multi-million pound hotel and leisure complex has started and the Swindon's mayor, Coun Peter Roberts, is laying a plaque on Saturday to mark the occasion.

The Wiltshire Golf and Country Club is being revamped to include 50 bedrooms, a bar, a restaurant, a function room, a new reception, a creche, and a gym area.

The club's owner Eddy Shah, who is chairman of the Messenger Leisure Group, Ted Querzani, the club president as well as North Wiltshire District Councillors Stephen and Alison Bucknell, Toby Sturgis and Peter Doyle, will also attend the ceremony.
