HAYDON WICK residents came out to support their community association after the charity's trustees sent out a plea for help.
The Haydon Community Association helps subsidise activities at the Haydon Wick Community and Leisure Centre via fundraising.
As well as activities such as badminton and snooker, the centre also hosts a pre-school, a young mums group and meals for older people.
The centre is run as a joint venture between the association, Swindon Borough Council and Haydon Wick Parish Council.
There were fears the association was at risk of pulling out of running the community centre because of a shortage of trustees.
But the association attracted a groundswell of support at its AGM after chairman Brian Holden had sent out letters warning residents they could lose services. He said: "The meeting went extremely well and a number of people have come forward offering help."
