Mark Godley has quit as manager of Screwfix Direct Division One side Corsham Town after admitting that the pressures of juggling family life, work and football had become too much.
Godley handed in his resignation after the 3-2 home defeat to Weston St Johns on Monday night ending a successive three year spell in charge at the Southbank ground which saw him guide Town to the upper reaches of Division One.
He said: "I knew a few weeks ago that it was imminent. People will look at early results and say that is the reason, but results only paper over the cracks.
"I was doing three things badly, the family, my job and football, and something had to give.
"I have a young family and a job that involves a lot of travelling and I want to get those two things right."
He added "I spoke to the lads after Monday's match, and then the chairman, and he knew straight away there was no point trying to change my mind.
"The club have been fantastic and there can be no better at this level. I still got a good relationship there and I'm sure I will be back watching matches all the time."
Godley's assistant, Dave King, takes charge for the FA Vase clash against Brislington this Saturday and next Monday's league meeting at home to Westbury.
But it is unclear whether either he or veteran striker John Freegard will take on the job permanently.
Club secretary Richard Taylor said "We will hold a meeting to discuss it and plan our way forward.
"There is no one in the frame at the moment and it may be that we don't need to advertise the job outside the club.
"Mark's leaving was a bit of shock but we all appreciate what he has done for us. He made us into a professional outfit."
AFC Wroughton have withdrawn from the Swindon Sunday League..
A number of Division 1 results were incorrect from the weekend. They were:
AFC Gas 1, Carriers Arms 1; New Century WMC 2, Moonrakers 3; Tran Staff 5, Rodbourne Cheney WMC 1; Wroughton WMC 0, Juventus 4.
ASHTON Keynes' under 12s defeated Cricklade 4-1 in their latest Cirencester & District Youth League outing.
A strong first half display saw Ashton build the platform for their first win of the season, as they settled quickly into a pattern of play that brought three goals without reply before half-time.
Harry Hill, last season's top scorer, hit the first and third goals, while David Barham, outstanding throughout, also scored.
After the break, Cricklade upped a gear and also netted, but Simon Carter also increased Ashton's tally.
