AN exhibition will be touring markets in the Pewsey Vale next week to get the views of residents on plans to introduce a network of Quiet Lanes in the area.
Quiet Lanes are roads and footpaths designed to be more attractive for those not in vehicles, such as walkers, cyclists and horse riders, and to make driving more pleasant for those who are.
The exhibition will visit markets in Pewsey, Marlborough and Devizes. It will also be available to view on-line via the Wiltshire County Council website at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/transport.
It will include maps outlining which roads and footpaths could be included.
The public will also have the chance to comment on other measures , including warning signs, interactive speed signs, narrower roads, signs at the entry and exit to the network, rumble strips and speed humps. The proposals also include non-physical measures such as publicity campaigns and driver training courses.
Project manager Martin Aldam said: "Nothing is set in stone and all the measures we are suggesting in the exhibition are up for discussion.
"For a Quiet Lanes network to work local people need to be signed up to the idea. The best way to do this is to involve them in the decision-making process. This is what we are doing."
Visitors will be asked to fill in a questionnaire, which can also be completed on-line at www.wiltshire.gov.uk.
The exhibition will be at Pewsey market on September 24, Marlborough market on September 25 and Devizes on 26 September from 10am until 5pm each day.
