HULLAVINGTON residents are planning to build a new bus shelter in the village to commemorate the Queen's jubilee and the death of the Queen Mother.
Jon Clancy, of Hullavington, said: "If we are successful, then we would achieve a great deal.
"We would show community spirit and leave a fitting tribute to last for generations from our village to both the Queen and the Queen Mother."
The new shelter is set to be built in the Parkland area of the village. It is intended to replace the brick shelter built to commemorate the Queen's coronation.
But parish council chairman Eric Gough said no decision about the design of the bus shelter, or even its precise location has yet been made.
The parish council has issued a questionnaire asking for people's opinions about the design.
The parish has up to £2,000 to spend. It will be matched by up to £2,500 by North Wiltshire District Council but villagers are asking for help from local firms for design and materials sponsorship and it is hoped the shelter will cost less than £5,000 to build.
