VANDALS attacked a caravan with black spray paint and a marker pen last Thursday night in Silveston Way, Malmesbury, ruining a family's holiday plans.

Peter and Deana Haskins-Spellman only bought the caravan a month ago and were looking forward to a trip to the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire with their three young children at the weekend, before the attack dashed their plans.

This is the second time the caravan has been attacked. Three weeks ago, eggs were thrown before the family went on a trip to Dartmouth.

Mr Haskins-Spellman, 47, said: "I was shocked when I woke up in the morning to find what had been done. I can't understand why anybody would do this. If it is a grievance someone has towards us then it could mean they may attack the car or the house."

The caravan, which was parked on the back drive at the house, was damaged between 11.30pm on Thursday and 5am on Friday.

The vandals sprayed the black paint in random swirls covering the right hand side at the rear, and half of the left hand side of the two-berth Avondale caravan. They sprayed over windows and used black marker pen to fill in the gaps.

Mrs Haskins-Spellman, 40, said: "We were looking forward going away and the children are disappointed."

A police spokesman said: "This incident seems to be an unprovoked attack." Witnesses to the incident are asked to contact the police
