Trophies and certificates for Wootton Bassett in Bloom 2002 will be presented on Monday evening when all entrants will be welcome to attend.

The ceremony will take place at the Conservative Club, High Street, at 7.30pm for 8pm. All entrants should have received a personal invitation by now.

The Hands Up for God puppets, which are popular nationwide, provided an entertaining weekend at the Methodist Church. A well-attended Saturday evening Puppetmania also featured song and dance, and on Sunday the puppets performed again at a special celebratory service.

The drama department at Wootton Bassett School urgently needs a Second World War gas mask, for a GCSE drama project. Anyone willing to loan or donate one, is asked to contact Eric Shenton on on (01793) 841911.

: RNLI cards, homemade cakes, bric-a-brac and a bring and buy stall will feature in a coffee morning at Church Croft at the rear of St Bartholomew's churchyard on Saturday from 10am to 12pm. Proceeds will benefit the Royal National Lifeboat Institution

The Stars and Stripes was flown at half mast at the Civic Centre on September 11, to mark the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks on America.

: At Church Croft, Saturday's fish and chip supper from Bassett Chippie, with homemade desserts and drinks, attracted people from a wide age range, and raised £70 for Bible Society funds.

A free talk on Jane Austen will be given by local historian Julia Cook, at the town library on September 26, at 2pm.
