WEEK two in the league season gave 27 clubs the opportunity to open up their league programmes and there were some interesting results.
None more so than in Division Two where SKS Blyskawica and Jesters shared the points in a closely fought 1-1 draw. Jesters took the lead through Dave Levett and it took a last minute equaliser from Phil Trueman for the home side to secure the draw.
Swindon West Indians have started off well in this division and have now scored 14 goals in two league matches after their 4-2 win at Dynamo Ashton.
Innogy Holdings travelled to Highworth Plough and came away with a 5-1 win, thanks to a hat-trick from Ian Fawkes and goals from G Fairclough and N Jarvie. Anton Starling replied for the Plough.
In the top division Juventus opened with a 4-0 away win at Wroughton WMC with Enzo Mazzotta, Tate Hulbert, Vinny Parker and Tony Falvo finding the net. Gary Ashford scored for AFC Gas who went down 6-1 at home to the in-form Carriers Arms.
Tran Staff proved too strong for Rod Cheney WMC with a 5-1 home win, thanks to two goals from Harry Sandhu and one each for Steve Winchcombe, Kevin Theobald and Danny Kimber.
New Century lost by the odd goal in five, going down 3-2 at home to Moonrakers.
In Division Three Nationwide stormed to a 8-3 win at Coleshill to open their campaign with hat-tricks from Phillip O'Farrell and Barry Shedden and further goals from Dave Shepherd and Darren Milne. On target for Coleshill were Mike Juggins (penalty), Ian Walker and Simon Hoddinott.
Carrying on winning ways were South Marston and Thamesdown Nalgo with their home victories over Compton Welding and Penhill Utd respectively.
Mark Wells, Scott Griffin, Jim Bryant and Martin Glasspole helped Marston to a 4-0 victory and Tim Bohane, Adrian Mitchell and Graham Fervie doing the same for Nalgo in their 3-2 win.
There was a closely fought match at Wanborough where the home team defeated Mallard 4-3, Michael Kent and Chris Rusling both hitting two goals for Wanborough. A solitary strike for Danny Bourne was enough to give Fox and Hounds victory over Coleview and High St Club went to Haydon Wick WMC and came away with a fine 4-1 victory . Glenn Harman helped himself to a couple of goals with Martin Little and Pete Brotheridge also scoring. Wick's consolation came from Danny Hyde.
In Division Four the first league game of the season for Windmill saw them win 5-2 at Campbell James, thanks to double strikes from Gary Seward and Ross Kelly and one for Andy Quinn. Gary Baker hit two for the home team.
Last year's Division Five champions County Ground Hotel SFC were made to fight for a 4-3 home win over Motorola, Kevin Coles (2), Pat Slattery and Mark Smith were the scorers. A Dave Glover strike helped Highworth Swindon Fencing to share the points at home to Lamb.
KMLC lost 3-2 at home to AutoColor. Ben Fitzgibbon, Ashley Jones scored for KMLC. Ian McCarthy missed a penalty for the home side.
A David Hutchinson double helped Suffolk Arms to a 2-2 home draw against Red Lion.
In Divisionn Five Nationwide Life continued their fine start with a 3-1 home victory over Swindon Police with goals from Mark Pounder, Steve Legg and Ben Humphrey. Team to watch in this division could be Sun Inn Coate who recorded a fine 7-2 win over ISSC. There was a hat-trick for Wayne Palmer and singles from Aaron Dickinson and Des Flannelly.
Honours were even between Queensfield and Jovial Monk with a 2-2 draw. Neil Robinson scored two for Queensfield with John Goodenough and Carl Webber on target for the Monk.
A Tony Sardo goal was all Wincanton had to show in their 3-1 defeat against Sporting Sunnys. Bear Hotel started their season with a 3-2 victory over Grosvenor thanks to goals from Steve Dean, Darren Ball and Robin Simpson.
In Division Six Castrol GTX recorded their second league win by defeating Philip Andrews Estate Agents 2-0 with Jake Henley and Tom Hunt scoring. Halcrow scored five goals again this time at Kingsdown Utd as did G & F Bricklaying at H & H Athletic. Ladsio kicked their league programme off with a solid 5-0 win at Penetrators with Matty Taylor (2) Dave Devine (2) and Andy Green on the scoresheet. Swindon Cerney had Chris Bamford (2) Steve Elliott (2) Chris Hughes and Craig Wyke-Martin scoring in their 6-2 comfortable win over Iceland Utd.
There were away wins in Division Seven for Longs Bar, Endeva and 419ers at Fairford Sunday, Dennis Removals and Blueprint resepectively.
WS One also won away at AFC Southside with two goals from Terry Griffin and further strikes from Andy Marriott, Rob Griffin and Ben Dickens.
There were ten goals in The Deers Leap v Duckhams Q match. A hat trick for Johnny Cole and hits from Will Tinkler, Carl Spencer and Neil Lee helped the Leap to a 6-4 win.
