FOUR SEASONS produced the upset of the day in the preliminary round of the Rainbow Launderette sponsored WG Parr Trophy when they defeated an injury hit Spencer Sports side 4-2.
The Fourth Division side took the lead after three minutes through Mick Johnson, before Ben Grinham and Royston Aust struck to put the Division Two side in front at the break.
Second half goals from Neville Kaye, Ryan Nicholls, and Ryan Hunt saw the Four Seasons home to set up a first round tie with The George Lacock.
The George Lacock coasted to the next round with comfortable 7-0 victory over Division Four Old Road Tavern. Andy Joad hit a first half double, with Tim Culling (3), Steve North and Lee Carpenter completing the win for the First Division club.
Third Division Colerne B pushed First Division Trowbridge Harriers all the way before losing a penalty shoot-out 6-5. Normal and extra-time failed to produce a goal and Paul Edwards hit Harriers' winning penalty after Neil Barton missed for Colerne.
Second Division Christian Malford and their First Division opponents Atworth United played out an eight-goal thriller which saw Atworth claim a first round tie against Colerne A with a 5-3 win. Matt Adams, Stuart Holland and Brian Wiltshire's goals for Atworth cancelled out a first half brace from Scott Evans. Ben Head then fluked a free kick from 50 yards to bring the scores level. Atworth, who have a new belief in themselves this term, clinched their win with strikes from Paul Burns and Wayne Heath.
Premier Division
BOX Rovers and Pack Horse drew a blank in a 0-0 draw.
The match was a highly entertaining affair that was played in a great sporting manner by both sets of players. Pack Horse's keeper Mark Ogilvie was the busier of the two stoppers, pulling off a number of fine stops to keep his goal intact.
Percy's FC came out on top against local rivals Corsham FC, Chris Jones inspiring his team to a 3-1 win. Jones was provider for Percy's first when his cross was headed home by Tom Laver. Toby Colebourne tied the scores before Jones stole the show in the second period when he headed Percy's in front. Jones completed the scoring and his fine personal performance when he rifled home a screamer from 25 yards to make it 3-1. Referee Neil Hickton had an excellent game.
Half of the planned fixtures were postponed due to teams being unable to raise sides.
Division One
TERRY'S FC have maximum points from their three games after their 5-3 win over Colerne A.
Colerne's goals came from Jamie Bowler and Jason Smith.
Darren Thorpe celebrated the birth of his baby daughter in fine style. Thorpe hit a double, one a 30 scorcher, as West Lavington defeated pre-season favourites Gladstone Liberal Club 4-2. Simon Drewitt also netted twice, with Andri Thomas (2) replying for the Libs.
West End Wanderers goalkeeper Craig Woodruff let in a soft goal as his side fell behind to Chippenham Police before claiming a 3-2 win. Woodruff was at fault as Dave Minty's shot sneaked between his legs and into the net. His blushes were spared when Nathan Mantle struck twice to give Wanderers the lead. A Steve Davis penalty made it 2-2 but Dave Jenkins sealed both points for the Wanderers went he scored 20 minutes from time.
Westbridge United were unable to raise a team for their clash with Maud Heath Sports.
Division Two
WINGFIELD scored six goals for a second consecutive week as they became the first team to beat Farmhouse FC, with a 6-3 scoreline.
Biddestone Social Club and North Star A shared the spoils in a thrilling 3-3 draw, which saw Biddestone battle back from a 3-0 down to snatch a point in the dying seconds. Guy Minnis (2) and Sid Ludford had put the Star in control with only 18 minutes gone. James Tindell headed Biddestone back into the contest on 22 minutes with Mike Few adding a second just before half time. Biddestone pushed forward looking for an equaliser and it came in dramatic fashion with the very last kick of the game when, following a goalmouth scramble, Mark Jennings bundled the ball home to deny the Star both points.
After two disappointing results Sutton Benger turned in a much improved performance as they claimed their first win of the season by defeating Old Lane United 2-0. After a goal-less first period Benger made the breakthrough when Ian Dawkins picked out Steve Gawke whose cross was steered home from 15 yards by Tom Birch. As Old Lane pushed forward searching for an equalizer they left big gaps in their defence and the result was settled 10 minutes from time when Paul Watson broke free and hammered home Benger's second.
North Bradley cruised to a 6-2 victory over Pig and Whistle United. Nigel Hall and Steve Robinson replied for United.
A shortage of players saw Chippenham Black Horse postpone their clash with long time rivals Semington Rovers.
Division Three
SIR Audley's Arms left it late before overcoming the Hare and Hounds 3-2.
Steve Shipway put the Arms in front only for Niall McClean (penalty) and Paul Morris to reverse the score to give the Hounds a 2-1 advantage which they held until five minutes from time when Kieron Smith levelled. Wayne Burry hit the Arms' winner in the 89th minute as the Hounds ran out of steam. Things could have been a little easier for the Arms had Stuart Shipway not had a first half penalty superbly save by Hounds goalkeeper Anthony Dowell.
After a goal less first half the game between Corsham Park Rangers and Southwick Sports and Social Club finally came to life with Lee Ashman putting Southwick in front in the 46th minute.
Two goals in a minute, from Pete Saint-Ruth and Stuart Beeho, swung the game in Rangers' favour before Ashman hit his second of the game in the 67th minute to earn Southwick a 2-2 draw.
Roadrunners FC and AFC Unicorn were also involved in a stalemate, which saw Unicorn lead 2-0 at one stage before Roadrunners claimed a 3-3 draw. Andy Zuk, Steve Ivin and super-sub Carl Gilbert earned Roadrunners their point.
A rare headed goal from Pete Fish was Cooper-Avon's only consolation as the slumped to a 6-1 defeat at Corsham Centre for whom 17-year-old debutant Matthew Lye scored after just eight minutes.
Paul Park (2), John MacKenzie, Nigel Evans and goalkeeper Phil Meek (penalty) shared the goals.
Steve Johnson fired home a free kick to give Rowde the lead over Holt FC who replied with a hat-trick from Neil Grant and Mark Slade goal to earn a 4-1 victory.
Somerford FC's game with Blue Circle Saints ended all square at 2-2. Martin Hemmings put the Saints ahead with Pete Martin and then Ben Smith hitting Somerford's goals.
Substitute Gary Chandler gave away a penalty which was converted by Graham Deveney to earn the Saints their share of the points.
Division Four
WESTBURY Rangers B continue to head the table after a 5-1 win over Classic FC made it three wins from three games played.
Dale John (3), Shane Rendell and Dave Jones were on target in Rangers' five star win, with Jamie Ware replying.
All Cannings B suffered their first loss in the league, losing 6-0 to fellow newcomers Potterne FC.
Jamie Bayes gave Potterne a first half 1-0 lead, with Peter Huntley (2) and a treble for Darren Brown completing the second half rout.
Trowbridge Town Supporters' Club hit Parsons Nose for six as they got their season back on track. Gavin Targett and Steve Munday netted hat-tricks for the Town who also had a Lloyd Griffiths penalty saved.
Rick Noonan hit the consolation goal for Parsons Nose.
KSM were unable to follow up last week's win, losing 3-1 to North Star B.
Chris Sampson, Nick Cawley and Simon Clifford scored to cancel out Stuart Kofie's opener for KSM.
