A robber wielding an iron bar attacked a cashier at a service station in Swindon.
Police today released CCTV images of the robbery at the Esso Filling Station on the A420 in South Marston.
Two men entered the shop. One stood at the automatic sliding door entrance while the second jumped over the counter and snatched money from the till.
The lone male cashier, who was on the shop floor side of the counter, challenged the men who then assaulted him using the iron bar before fleeing from the premises.
The cashier gave chase onto the forecourt where he was again struck with the bar and dragged along the floor. The two suspects then drove off in a Vauxhall Omega, which was later discovered as having been stolen from Drove Road, Swindon.
The victim suffered severe swelling, bruising and abrasions in the attack, which happened on September 8.
Police spokeswoman Alvina Kumar said: "This was a despicable act and the cashier was lucky that he escaped serious injury.
"These men need to be caught and we are urging people to study the images carefully and let us know any information they have."
If you have any information or recognise this man contact the police on Swindon 528111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
