MR BEAVEN'S views of the Countryside Alliance, as expressed in his letter of Friday, September 13, are unsurprisingly narrow.

Likewise, his monumental ignorance of the crisis facing rural England is equalled only by his intestinal dislike of the countryside and the people in it.

I was born and raised in the country, I revere wildlife and abhor hunting. More foxes, badgers and deer are run down by uncaring motorists than are killed by hounds.
