REGARDING the article Cancer Care at PMH in the Adver on September 13, I am writing to put forward another opinion of the treatment that I received.
I also have multiple myeloma, being diagnosed with this disease early in 1991 and I have never gone longer than three months between hospital appointments during the remission period, and every month whilst on chemotherapy.
The doctor attending to me has always explained fully to me any queries that I have had. I have always been treated with courtesy and kindness by the doctors, nurses and reception staff from the different departments that I attend.
There is at present no cure for myeloma. There is a booklet on this disease from Leukaemia Research Fund which Mrs Topp may find enlightening. I cannot comment on Victorian medicine as I have not received any.
