ENGINEERS are drawing up plans for improvements on the Oldfield Park estate in Westbury.
After a meeting in July and a household survey, residents approved a scheme that introduces a 20mph speed limit and speed ramps.
Wiltshire County Council and West Wiltshire Housing Society are also looking at ways to increase the number of parking spaces on the estate.
The Transport Research Laboratory used residents' comments to compile a report which has been used by county engineers to draw up the final plan.
Once this has been completed a consultation process will start which will involve the police, the town council and West Wiltshire District Council.
The plans can be viewed from today at Westbury Town Council offices and comments have to be made by October 11. It is hoped work will start next spring.
Last year's district council budget set aside £125,000 for estate improvements, £25,000 of which was earmarked for Westbury.
A government transport initiative has helped fund the £75,000 Oldfield Park scheme.
Project manager, Jo Grinter, said: "Residents are particularly worried about speeding and drivers using the estate as a rat run.
"Hopefully the changes will put a stop to these problems and make the area more friendly for pedestrians and cyclists.
"The plan seems to satisfy everyone's requirements."
