A SECOND round of discussions on developer Charlie Tull's plans for the former GEC site will take place on Monday.
Members of the town council planning committee deferred plans for a residential development at their last meeting.
The Box-based developer wants to turn the former GEC building into an up-market housing development a far cry from the £6m designer village plans of two years ago.
Labelled as a "lost opportunity" for Melksham at the last planning meeting, Mr Tull's plans are expected to receive a tough grilling on Monday.
Speaking after he withdrew a planning application for a designer store in August, Mr Tull said he's tried and failed to convince up to 300 leisure and retail outlets to come to Melksham.
The latest blow came when Matalan pulled out and proposed lead tenants Designer Rooms went bust.
The 25,000sq ft site on Beanacre Road is the last piece of a long-unfinished jigsaw.
Leekes celebrated its tenth anniversary on the site this month while McDonald's and supermarket chain Aldi are more recent additions to a once dilapidated area of town.
Declared as an eyesore by town councillors, the smashed-up building could remain as it is for years unless Mr Tull's latest project gets universal backing.
