RESIDENTS in Melksham are getting the chance to have their say on £300,000 plans to revitalise the town centre.
Controversial traffic calming for Spa Road and King Street and changes to High Street and Church Street are among the plans in the pipeline.
The Wiltshire County Council scheme has been dogged by controversy. Some town councillors have slammed plans to widen pavements in Church Street while traders are livid about plans to install traffic calming measures.
Alterations to High Street, Church Street, Spa Road and King Street come under stage one of the £300,000 project, the main focus of this period of public consultation.
Stage two, involving the revitalisation of Market Place, will be the subject of a separate consultation later in the year.
Plans drawn up by Parkman and Colin Davis Urban Design can be seen in Melksham Town Hall.
People can talk to highways officers on Thursdays between 10.30am and 1.30pm.
All feedback will be given to council officers before final proposals are drawn up.
County council contractors want to start work on stage one before the end of the year.
